Her Majesty's Theatre

A musical fit for a Queen!
Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne was built in 1885 on the site of the old racecourse. It was initially named in honour of Princess Alexandra (King Edward's consort) and it was renamed Her Majesty's Theatre in 1900 in honour of Queen Victoria and again in 1953 in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
Records at the theatre were broken in 1959 with 730 performances of My Fair Lady and in 2007 with a record breaking number of tickets sold for Miss Saigon.
Her Majesty's Theatre remains the theatre of choice to see a musical, ballet or opera in Melbourne!
