Arts Centre Melbourne

The history of performance in Melbourne.
The Arts Centre in the Southbank district is home to two important collections: the Performing Arts Collection and the Art Collection.
The Performing Arts Collection introduces visitors to the history of the performing arts including circus, music, dance, opera and theatre. It boasts 400,000 works that are part of the state's collection. The Art Collection explores the same theme, but through the creativity of the visual arts.
Different venues can also accommodate live performances: Hammer Hall (symphony concerts), State Theatre (opera), BlackBox (cabaret theatre), Fairfax Studio and Playhouse (theatre).
